Baby animals at Noah's Ark Zoo Farm for half term
27th May 2014
We can’t move for cute baby animals on the farm – so it’s the perfect time to visit Noah’s Ark Zoo Farm. And did we mention it’s half term too? There’s loads to do here in Wraxall in the coming week, making for a fun and rewarding day trip for the family. Our latest arrivals on the ark are these beyond adorable baby capybaras!
These two pups were born last week and are busy exploring everything their new world has to offer. These South American animals are the largest rodents in the world, most closely related to guinea pigs – and you can certainly see the similarities with these little babies. Capybaras are social animals so once these two have got their confidence up, they will be animated little additions to the farm! They join our other recent Spring babies, including lemur twins and a reindeer calf. Our lemurs' home officially opened on Friday. The primate palace was built last year, offering our ever-growing family of iconic Ring-tailed lemurs a lovely space to luxuriate in. Now the enclosure and public viewing areas are finished, we celebrated the area and the chairman of North Somerset Council came along to cut the ribbon. Mum Tamala leads the family of four adults, two juveniles and two babies. The friendly Ring-tailed lemurs are proving very popular with our visitors, who can now enjoy close encounters with the lemurs through a purpose-built viewing screen constructed in the enclosure fence.
The stripey primates love the sunny weather we have been having and can be seen jumping and climbing around outdoors in the sun. There’s plenty more at Noah’s Ark this half term, making it a great Bristol day out with the family. Children always love the Animal Show Pens and Animal Village, where you can get close to lots of animals. You can’t beat it for an incredible up-close experience feeding lambs, goats and camels or holding little rabbits and chicks. As well as all our barnyard animals, Noah’s Ark is home to the big zoo animals – you can’t get bigger than Buta the elephant or Rumba and Rumbull our rhinos.
We’ve got ample space on the farm for these beautiful animals to thrive, while giving our visitors the chance to learn about some of the world’s most threatened species. While we’re all about animals, Noah’s Ark offers a full day out for children, with daily tractor rides and indoor and outdoor play areas including slides, trampolines and our a-mazing maze! Every day we’ve also got a range of events and interactive talks. Watch the enigmatic Meerkats get fed at 11.30am, meet the reptiles at 1.30pm and learn about big cats at 1pm and 4pm. You can even book your Noah’s Ark tickets online. Adult, child and family tickets are all available to buy from our website. Just print out your tickets and bring them along on your day out with the family. And children under two-years-old go free! We are open from Monday – Saturday, 10:30am – 5pm.
