Lloyd Actually – The Otterly Romantic Comedy
1st Apr 2025
If you look for it, I've got a sneaky feeling you’ll find that love otterly is all around—especially at Noah’s Ark Zoo Farm!
We’re thrilled to announce the latest smash hit romance hitting the big screen: Lloyd Actually. Starring our very own Asian short-clawed otter, Lloyd, this rom-com follows his whirlwind love story with Pistachio, who recently arrived from Seven Sisters Zoo in Scotland. Their chemistry was instant, their bond undeniable… we think Richard Curtis would be very proud of our first film!
A Love Story for the Ages
After moving into their newly built habitat, Lloyd wasted no time sweeping Pistachio off her paws. Keepers have already caught him carrying mouthfuls of hay to their den—he’s thoughtful, romantic, and has excellent interior design skills!
We’ve been so inspired by their love story that we’re making it official: Lloyd Actually, the feature film, is coming soon! Expect heartwarming moments, romantic moat side strolls, and shared fish suppers. Watch the trailer below!
But Seriously…
We’re sorry… April Fools! While we wish we could premiere Lloyd Actually in cinemas, the real story here is just as special. Pistachio’s arrival is a key step in our efforts to contribute to the conservation of Asian short-clawed otters, a species classified as Vulnerable on the IUCN Red List. By successfully pairing these two otters, we hope to support the future of the species and strengthen conservation initiatives here at Noah's Ark Zoo Farm.
Their new home has been designed to mimic the natural environment of these incredible animals. Visitors will find this new habitat in the centre of our zoo, in the moat next to the Bird walk through. It includes a moat, dens, and plenty of enrichment activities to keep them active and engaged—so when they’re not starring in imaginary rom-coms, they’re busy playing and exploring.
As part of our commitment to sustainability, the habitat also incorporates chippings from over 3,500 Christmas trees donated through the annual Christmas Tree Recycling campaign. These chippings have been repurposed to line sections of the habitat floor, providing a natural, enriching environment for the otters.
What’s Next for Lloyd and Pistachio?
While we can’t guarantee a film-like ending just yet, we’re optimistic about the future for this pair. If all goes well, we hope to have otter pups in the future, making a valuable contribution to the conservation of their species.
This Easter , come and meet Lloyd and Pistachio in their brand-new habitat! Watch as they splash, play, and interact, while discovering the challenges Asian short-clawed otters face in the wild. Plus, don’t miss our exciting Easter event, running all month long—there’s so much to see and do at the zoo! Read more here!
And if you do happen to see a film crew near our Otter habitat… well, you never know. Maybe Lloyd Actually really is coming soon!
