Noah's Ark Zoo Farm Contributes to Global Knowledge of Species

Did you know that Noah's Ark Zoo Farm plays a key role in building the world’s largest and most comprehensive knowledge base on over 22,000 species? As an active member of the global nonprofit Species360, we contribute valuable data daily on the animals and groups in our care, from their lifecycle traits to their environmental needs.
This data is recorded in the Species360 Zoological Information Management System (ZIMS), which is now 50 years old and stands as the world’s largest source of species data.
So far, Noah's Ark Zoo Farm has provided data on more than 1,755 animals and 301 species, subspecies, and breeds!
Our contributions, along with those from other species conservation institutions worldwide, help create a fuller picture of animal life. This shared information advances knowledge in areas like disease treatment, animal welfare, population health, and species conservation.
We are proud to be a part of this international effort and its impact on animal welfare and wildlife conservation. As part of our commitment to conservation and animal welfare, we meticulously record data on our animal collections. This ensures our animals receive the best care and contributes to species population management and conservation. By continuing to share our knowledge and expertise, we can make even greater strides in protecting the planet’s biodiversity.
Using ZIMS, we stay informed about each animal and group. For instance, Species360 Global Medical Resources, part of the ZIMS for Medical module, helps veterinarians treat and prevent diseases by providing benchmarks for normal blood test results.
ZIMS for Studbooks is also essential for conservation teams worldwide. It ensures the genetic diversity and health of animal populations in human care, which is crucial for reintroduction programs that work to re-establish native species in their natural habitats.
