🎃 Pumpkinfest Returns to Noah's Ark 🎃
Every year, the air at our farm is filled with the aroma of autumn—beautiful smells, fresh hay, and, of course, the sweet scent of pumpkins. But this year, Pumpkinfest 2024 promises to be our biggest celebration yet, filled with unexpected surprises and a story that’s as unique as our pumpkins.
The Pumpkin Hills
High on an uneven hill, nestled in a pocket of our farm, lies the secret to our success: a blend of elephant and rhino poo. Yes, you read that right! Our pumpkins grow from the rich, earthy mounds left by these large creatures. Over 2,500 pumpkin plants stretch their roots into this natural fertilizer, yielding a bumper amount of 10,000 pumpkins this season. This year, they have grown bigger, rounder, and more vibrant than ever, thanks to the zoos giants.
A Feast for the Eyes and Taste Buds
As you stroll through our pumpkin patch, you’ll encounter 16 different pumpkin variants, each with its own shape, size, and colour. From the classic deep-orange jack-o'-lanterns to ghostly white varieties and knobby, bumpy gourds, our patch is a visual feast. With such diversity, you’ll want to take a few home just to show off or turn into a culinary masterpiece.
The Pumpkin Relocation Project and an Accessible Patch for All
While our pumpkins have traditionally thrived on the hill, we’ve faced a bit of a problem. As much as we love our elephant and rhino friends, we realise that wading through their contributions is not ideal for our visitors. So, we’ve relocated our pumpkins to a specially designed pumpkin patch right next to our Farm Shop. This new location is accessible to all and offers a more pleasant picking experience, free of any unexpected underfoot surprises! The new patch is bigger and better than ever, offering more space to explore, more pumpkins to pick, and a cleaner, easier path for families with strollers or anyone with mobility concerns.
Pumpkinfest at Noah’s Ark is a celebration of nature’s wonders. From the rich compost that nourishes our pumpkins to the diverse creatures that share our farm, every element plays a role in our harvest. So, come join us, breathe in the crisp autumn air, pick your perfect pumpkin, and immerse yourself in the beauty of the season. This is Pumpkinfest at Noah’s Ark Zoo Farm, an adventure for all ages, where every pumpkin has a story, and every visitor leaves with a smile.
You also don’t need to pay entry to the zoo to get to our farm shop and pumpkin patch! Come and browse the gourds and pumpkins, and grab a warming cup of coffee, tea or hot chocolate from our farm shop.
