Rural Craft Day
Get back to nature with the elaborate Rural Craft Day which takes place on Saturday, September 29, at Noah’s Ark Zoo Farm. This event is being held for the first time in 2012. Not only will there be a wonderful array of crafts on show, but visitors can purchase souvenirs or gifts (with perfect timing for approaching Christmas). And don’t forget to buy tickets for our fundraising raffle! The raffle is for the Hope for Life Katanga charity which is run by a local couple, the former Noah’s Ark keeper Mark Walters and his wife Megan. The charity supports people who live in Ugandan slums. Prizes include keeper experiences, day tickets and season tickets to Noah’s Ark. There will be a talk given by Mark and Megan about the charity and their recent trip abroad. They will also be selling craft items made by women from the slums.
Join us for Rural Craft Day
At the rural craft day we will be showcasing traditional crafts such as weaving, spinning and drawing as well as new crafts like jewellery making, ceramics and acrylics. We encourage local arts and crafts stallholders to contact us if they are interesting in taking part. Rural Craft Day is an all day event taking place between 10.30am-4.30pm. Stalls cost £20 for the day, and sale items are subject to approval.
Places are limited so please contact Sammi Luxa on 01275 852606 for more information. Noah’s Ark will be busy with events happening throughout the day including the Giraffe talk and feed, lion and tiger talk and birds of prey display. As well as hand feeding animals for themselves, visitors can see the progress of Elephant Eden, which will be Europe’s largest elephant sanctuary and opens to visitors in Summer 2013. Noah’s Ark Zoo Farm is open from Monday–Saturday, 10.30am-5pm and closed on Sundays.
For more information about the animals, entry prices and events visit our zoo website or phone 01275 852606. Any time that you want to come to the largest zoo in the South West, don’t let the weather put you off. We have as many indoor attractions as there are outdoor attractions, meaning that whatever the elements are doing you can always have a good time at Noah’s Ark Zoo Farm.
