The cycling Tour of Britain
3rd Sep 2018
The prestigious Tour of Britain cycle race will once again be passing through Bristol on Tuesday 4th September.
Starting on 2nd September in Pembrey Country Park the racers will reach Bristol's Downs on 4th September. The cyclists will spend the day racing around Bristol along Leigh Woods to Long Ashton, through Nailsea and the outskirts of Clevedon, passing right by the front entrance of the zoo. The race totals 1,140-kilometres andthe world's best cyclists will finish up in London on Sunday 9th September.
The cyclists are likely to pass by the zoo at 11:30am and as a result Clevedon Road will be closed between 11am and 12:30pm. If you are hoping to visit us on this day please incorporate this into your travel plans.
Visitors hoping to watch the race are more than welcome to park in our car park and watch the racers go past.
A helicopter will be accompanying the race from the air and are on the look out for land art and so our keepers have been busy creating something for them to spy in true 'art attack' style.
