Welcome Our New Arrivals: Baby Chocolate Skunk Brothers Drax and Quill 🦨
5th Aug 2024
We are beyond excited to introduce the latest additions to Noah's Ark: two baby chocolate skunk brothers! These unique and adorable skunks, with their striking dark brown fur and playful personalities, are certainly the new cheeky chappies of the zoo.Â
A Rare Sight
Chocolate skunks are a rare color variation of the common striped skunk, making these brothers a particularly special addition to our zoo. Their rich brown fur is a striking departure from the typical black and white markings of their species, and their vibrant personalities match their distinctive appearance.

Getting to Know Them
Our new skunk brothers are just a few months old and full of energy. They love exploring their new habitat, playing with enrichment toys, and interacting with each other. We've already seen them develop a close bond, often seen cuddling each other and sticking together when exploring a new place.

Fun Facts About Skunks
- Skunks are known for their powerful defence mechanism. They spray a pungent liquid to deter predators, but despite their reputation, skunks are actually very clean animals. They groom themselves frequently, just like cats!Â
- Skunks are omnivores, meaning they eat both plants and animals. Our baby skunks enjoy a varied diet that includes fruits, vegetables, insects, and small mammals.
- Striped skunks are found in a range of habitats in North America including wooded areas, scrublands, forests and grassy plains. They can also be found in suburban and urban areas; because of this, people often see as skunks as pests.
